Identify Students Who Need Help
Use participation and assignment progress to decide who may need a check-in. This ChitterChatter tutorial brings together the class overview, People, student profiles, and Analytics.
The video loads from YouTube only when you press play. YouTube (Google) then receives information such as your IP address and browser under Google’s privacy policy. Captions are included in the video. Use the player settings to adjust playback speed, or the CC button for YouTube’s additional captions. If two sets appear, turn CC off. Watch on YouTube if the embedded player is unavailable.

Let's use class progress to decide who may need a check-in. Start with your class overview and the participation information shown here.
Open People. Sessions and Last practiced help you spot students with little recent activity. Sam has not practiced yet; that is a reason to check in.
Open Sam's row menu and select View profile. Student Progress shows each assignment, its status, due date, and number of attempts.
Use this detail to distinguish missing work from a submission that is waiting for review. Here, Sam has overdue assignments with no attempts.
Close the profile and open Analytics to look for patterns across the class.
The proficiency section shows where the class stands and how the median changes over time. Estimates need enough evidence; an empty result does not mean a low level.
Scroll to Assignment performance. Compare participation and time across assignments to see where students may be getting stuck.
Open an assignment for its details. Check which students have completed it before deciding whether to support one learner or revisit the activity with the class.
Use these views together: participation tells you who is active, assignment details show what is missing, and proficiency adds context. Then plan a specific check-in or practice opportunity.
