Grade and Release Results
Grade a speaking submission and decide when the student can see the result. This ChitterChatter example uses a manual score and shows the difference between saving a draft and releasing a grade.
The video loads from YouTube only when you press play. YouTube (Google) then receives information such as your IP address and browser under Google’s privacy policy. Captions are included in the video. Use the player settings to adjust playback speed, or the CC button for YouTube’s additional captions. If two sets appear, turn CC off. Watch on YouTube if the embedded player is unavailable.

Let's grade a submission and release the result to the student. This example uses an assignment with a manual score out of ten.
Open Gradebook. Each student has a row, and each assignment has a column. The review filters help you find unfinished grading.
Select Needs review, then open Maya Chen's cell for Ordering at a Restaurant.
Review the transcript and feedback before entering a score. The Overall grade panel shows the maximum points and whether the result is still private.
Enter the score. We'll give this sample submission eight out of ten.
Add a short, specific comment if helpful. Point to a strength and give the student a practical next step.
Select Save draft. Saving preserves your work, but the score stays hidden from the student until you release it.
Check the score and comment, then select Release grade when you are ready for the student to see them.
The panel now says Released to the student. The saved score and comment are the result they can view.
Return to the class and open Gradebook. Clear the review filter if needed, and check the released score in the assignment column.
