What student practice can include
ChitterChatter may handle account information, class enrollment information, activity data, voice recordings, conversation transcripts, AI responses, and feedback generated after speaking practice. The goal is to provide the classroom or learner features students and instructors are using.
- Audio recordings are stored so students and instructors can review practice sessions.
- Conversation transcripts and activity metadata support feedback, review, and class visibility.
- Payment details are processed by Stripe when a learner or institution purchases access.
What ChitterChatter does not do with student voice data
The current privacy policy is explicit about several boundaries for student audio and conversation data. ChitterChatter does not sell or license audio recordings, use them for advertising, create voiceprints, or use student data to train publicly available AI models.
- Third-party AI providers process data only to provide the service features.
- Audio and text sent to AI providers are not used for independent model training by those providers.
- Student data remains governed by the privacy policy and applicable institutional agreements.
How institutional use is handled
When ChitterChatter is used through an institution, the service is designed to support the institution's educational use of student data. The privacy policy describes ChitterChatter's role as a school official with a legitimate educational interest for FERPA-covered institutional use.
- Student education records are used to provide the service authorized by the institution.
- Institutions can request deletion or return of student education records as described in the privacy policy.
- The privacy policy remains the canonical source for data handling commitments.
