Find Your Activities

From the sidebar on the left, click on Activities. This is your practice hub — the central place where all your activities live, whether they're assigned by your instructor or created by you. Everything you need to start practicing is right here.

Lemon says: Welcome! The Activities page is your go-to spot for all things practice. Let's walk through how to find and start your activities!

Filter Your Activities

At the top of the Activities page, you'll see four filter tabs that help you organize what you're looking at. Each tab shows a count so you always know how many activities are in each category.

  • All — shows every activity across all your classes and personal creations
  • To do — shows what you still need to start, finish, or turn in
  • Class — shows only activities assigned by your instructors, with due dates and submission requirements
  • Mine — shows activities you've created yourself for extra practice

Lemon says: The count next to each tab updates as activities are added or completed. Use To do to focus on what's due, and Mine to find your personal practice sessions!

Search and Sort

Below the filter tabs, you have tools to quickly find exactly what you're looking for. Use the search bar to find activities by name, and the sort options to organize your view.

  • Search bar — type any part of an activity title to filter results instantly
  • Sort options — organize by newest first, oldest first, due date, or alphabetically by title
  • Card view — see activities as visual cards with images and key details at a glance
  • List view — switch to a compact list format for a more condensed overview

Lemon says: Card view is great for browsing, and list view is perfect when you have a lot of activities and want to scan through them quickly. Try both and see which you prefer!

Start an Activity

When you find an activity you want to practice, you have two ways to get started. In card view, you can click the "Start Activity" button directly on the card to jump straight into the preparation flow. Or, click anywhere else on the card to open a detail view first, where you can read the full scenario summary before deciding to begin.

  • Look for the blue "Not started" badge — this means the activity is ready for you to practice right now
  • "Start Activity" button — takes you directly into the preparation flow
  • Clicking the card — opens a detail view with the full description, scenario context, and a button to start from there
  • Other status badges to watch for: "Due Soon" (deadline within 3 days), "Overdue" (past due), "Needs Submission" (practiced but not yet submitted)
Tip: You can practice the same activity as many times as you like. Each session generates its own feedback report.

Lemon says: If you're already familiar with the scenario, use "Start Activity" to jump right in. If it's your first time, click the card to read the details first — it helps you prepare!

Prepare for Your Session (Step 1)

After clicking "Start Activity," you'll enter a preparation flow. The first time you practice in some languages, such as Spanish or French, it first asks how the AI should refer to you; you can skip this and change it later in Settings. Step 1 introduces the control buttons you'll use during the conversation — Info, AI Text, Pause/Resume, and End. This is also where you should test your microphone to make sure everything is working before you begin.

  • Review the control buttons overview so you know what each one does during the session
  • Click the "Test Mic" button in the bottom corner to verify your microphone is working
  • Make sure your browser has microphone permissions enabled (check the lock icon in the address bar)
  • Click "Continue" when you're ready to move to the scenario preview

Lemon says: A quick mic check now saves headaches later! If the mic test doesn't pick up your voice, check your browser permissions and make sure the right input device is selected.

Scenario Preview (Step 2)

Step 2 of the preparation flow shows you the full scenario details. If the activity has learning objectives, a final step shows your practice goals. This is your chance to understand the situation, your role, and what to expect before the conversation begins. Read through everything carefully so you feel confident going in.

  • Scenario description — the full context of the conversation situation
  • Conversation style — choose Natural (just talk; the AI replies when you pause) or Press to talk (hold the spacebar or the on-screen button while you speak)
  • Pause notice — if your instructor limited or turned off pausing, the last step tells you before you begin
  • "Start Conversation" button — begins the live session when you're ready
Tip: Choose "Start Conversation" only when you are ready to begin your live practice session.

Lemon says: Take your time reading the scenario! Knowing your role and the situation makes a big difference in how natural and confident you'll sound. No rush — the session doesn't start until you click the button.

The Conversation Environment

Once you click "Start Conversation," you'll enter the live conversation environment and connect to your AI partner. The screen shows a progress bar at the top, the activity's scenario image in the center, and control buttons at the bottom.

  • Progress bar — tracks your elapsed time with a green marker showing the minimum duration you need to reach
  • "Minimum reached" indicator — turns green once you've spoken long enough to receive AI feedback and end the session
  • Details button — view your goals, the scenario, instructor notes, and a live transcript during the conversation (helpful if you forget your role)
  • AI Text button — toggle a subtitle overlay showing what the AI is saying (great if you miss something)
  • Pause / Resume button — take a breather, then pick up where you left off. Your instructor may limit pause time or turn pausing off; you'll see a notice before you start and the time left under the button. If limited pause time runs out while you're paused, your attempt ends
  • End button — finish the session. It stays dimmed until you reach the minimum time; ending before then saves the session, but you won't receive feedback. After the minimum, click End to finish and receive your feedback report.
Tip: If you lose connection during the conversation, the system will try to reconnect automatically. Stay on the page and give it a moment.

Lemon says: You MUST reach the minimum time to get feedback and for the session to count. Keep speaking until you see the green "Minimum reached" message — then you can end whenever you're ready!

Track Your Submissions

Open any assignment on the Assignments tab of your Class Workspace. Whether something needs turning in is a property of the assignment, so it lives on the assignment itself — one place to check rather than two.

  • Submission required — pick one of your sessions and turn it in
  • Scored submission — same, and your instructor scores it and releases feedback
  • Completion only — finishing a conversation is all there is to do
  • Every session you practice is saved; you choose the one your instructor reads, and the rest stay private to you
  • A session that ended early is saved too, but cannot be turned in
  • Change your choice any time until your instructor grades it — after the due date it still works, but counts as late
Tip: You can click on any session to review its feedback before selecting it as your submission.

Lemon says: Don't forget to formally submit! Completing a session and submitting it are two different things. If you see "Needs Submission," head here and pick your best session.

Class Progress

The Progress tab in your Class Workspace shows a detailed table of every activity in that class. Each row displays your session count, average time, last practiced date, and completion status — giving you a clear picture of how you're doing.

  • Session count — how many times you've practiced each activity
  • Average time — your typical session length for each activity
  • Last practiced — when you most recently worked on each activity
  • For your full practice history, open Progress in the sidebar and select the activity

Lemon says: This is a great way to see which activities you've been practicing a lot and which ones could use more attention. Want to see your progress across ALL your classes? Let's look at that next!

Global Progress Page

From the sidebar, click on Progress to see your practice history across all your classes in one place. Unlike the Class Workspace Progress tab (which shows only one class), this page gives you the big picture of all your conversations everywhere.

Tip: Use this page when you want a quick overview of your total practice activity without jumping between individual class workspaces.

Lemon says: This is your bird's-eye view! If you're enrolled in multiple classes, the global Progress page is the fastest way to see everything you've been working on.

Your Progress Dashboard

The global Progress page has powerful filtering and stats to help you review your practice history and revisit feedback from past sessions.

  • Class dropdown filter — select a specific class or view all classes at once
  • Every activity — status, session count, average time, and last practiced
  • Stats overview — total activities practiced, sessions completed, and overall practice time
  • Practice history — select an activity, then open any completed conversation to revisit its full feedback report
  • Completed sessions show a green badge and link directly to the feedback page

Lemon says: Repetition is your secret weapon! Practicing the same activity more than once lets you apply your feedback and see real improvement. Click on past sessions to review what the AI said — you'll be surprised how much you grow over time. You've got this!
